Infertility Causes Reducing Baby Hopes

Infertility is the biological inability of a man or a woman to actively participate in conception. Referring to the former, this can also entail the inability to successfully complete the pregnancy cycle, experiencing thus repeated miscarriages, which need to be coped with the right infertility treatment so as to increase chances of pregnancy. The causes of not getting pregnant can be numerous and also the factors influencing such cases, which can be either treated medically or via other means. The fertility period however for each woman is not identical, but normally takes place for a certain period before and during ovulation and being rather neutral the remaining days of the menstrual cycle.

One can speak of infertility, in simple terms, when a woman up to the age of 35 cannot get pregnant after 12 months of contraceptive-free intercourse. Post the age of 35, the aforementioned period is reduced to 6 months.

The causes or even better, health conditions, that can affect the pregnancy likelihood for a woman if getting pregnant, more or less intensely, are illustrated below:

  • Diabetes. It can have a negative effect to a certain portion of women, implying that for type 1 or 2 the menstrual cycle can be pushed forward, while the menopause can be seen somewhat sooner. Besides, the frequency of the poly cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is rather higher for diabetic women, which can also lead to periods irregularity and other non-pregnancy related symptoms.
  • Diseases sexually transmitted. These have a damaging effect on both men and women. Once again, the sooner these are treated, the better the chances are to cure infertility and bring back the couple’s baby hopes.
  • Endometriosis. This refers to the case that tissue from the endometrium (uterine lining) grows outside the uterus, indicating that the end-result is that the egg will not be fertilized. Surgery can be a solution, if of course recommended by the doctor.
  • Obesity. Being overweight can influence fertility too, leading also to more often PCOS. It is highly recommended to lose some extra pounds before pregnancy, but even while being pregnant, weight loss can significantly improve pregnancy and also delivery. In any case, pressure should be avoided and even simple exercises or just walking can help a lot, especially if these take place on a regular base, such as 2-3 times a week. In addition, certain fat foods can be replaced by healthier and nutritional ones, increasing the health levels of the soon-to-be mother and the fetus and also the baby hopes success rate.
  • Hypertension. The overall health of the woman is affected and this sense can decrease fertility. Again, the proper diet and mild workout can have the desired outcome. Special cast should be cast on the men’s medication, as it can be related to sperm production or ability to successfully fertilize the eggs.
  • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). It impacts the ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus and may also cause a pelvic inflammatory disease. According to research, the infertility rate can rise up to 15%, while if the disease comes back, the chances are doubled. Fertility can be also touched by other physical problems with the uterus.

Regarding now the man, the reasons behind infertility are depicted below:

  • Smoking. Apart from the overall effects on the person’s health status, smoking can reduce the quantity and quality of the sperms.
  • Drugs, medicines over a prolonged period of time and other environmental toxins, including pesticides and lead. Again, chemicals of all kinds can attack the health system of the man and thus deteriorate his ability to reproduce. This includes the radiation treatment and chemotherapy for cancer.
  • Age. Of course, it is not an issue affecting only the woman, but concerns also the man when the couple is trying to conceive, meaning that post the age of 40 the ability to fertilize the eggs is gradually reduced and a number of measures can be taken in order to increase chances of pregnancy.

Fighting infertility is not an easy task, especially when there are certain health conditions in the way, which need to be successfully and regularly tacked, so that you can increase chances of pregnancy and thus realize your dream.

Hair Transplant – A Permanent Solution For Hair Loss

Thick and healthy hairs contribute a lot towards men’s beauty. Unfortunately, some people lose them at earlier stage. Baldness really bothers the beauty conscious people, as they lose their self-confidence. They even hesitate to join the social gatherings and events as they take it a major drawback in their personality.

But going bald is no more a matter of worry for them now. They can regain their confidence while restoring back their locks once again. The solution lies in hair transplantation technique that has made it possible to achieve full head of hair.

Hair transplantation is a type of surgery that permanently restores the hair by implanting new follicles into thinning or balding scalp (recipient site) of men or women. The grafts containing follicles are taken from thicker parts of hair, mostly from the back or sides of the head (donor site). This surgical procedure mainly deals with the male pattern baldness.

Hair transplant experts mostly recommend two methods that work the best:

1. Follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS)

2. Follicular unit extraction (FUE)

Before undergoing either of the surgical method, the patient must talk with his doctor in detail about his preferences and the risks involved. That helps the doctor to make necessary assessment and planning. He, on the basis of his deep analysis, decides what procedure must suit the best to the patient’s needs. Then the patient is advised not to take any such medicine that might cause bleeding during the surgery, as bleeding lowers down graft quality.

Before performing the surgery, the doctor injects the local anesthesia into the scalp after washing it with shampoo and treating with some antibacterial agent. Hair transplant procedure, irrespective of what surgical methods the doctor adopts, involves two stages. These two stages are “harvesting” and “grafting” respectively.

Follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS)

During FUSS, the follicular units are harvested (removed from the scalp) by removing a 6-10 inch strip of skin containing a lot of follicles off the posterior part of scalp. Then the surgeon and his team cut out the strip into 500 to 2,000 grafts. Each graft contains a single or a few hairs depending the size, quality, or type of the recipient site.

Follicular unit extraction (FUE)

In FUE harvesting procedure, every single follicular unit containing 1-4 hair is removed off the back of the scalp separately. Though the process is more complicated and time-consuming, but it causes no linear scar, rather only tiny dots on donor site. The team then punctures the site with the help of micro blades or fine needles.

Grafting of the follicular units

At the grafting stage, both the FUSS and The FUE procedures are just the same. The surgical team adopts the same procedure as had been performed at pre-harvesting phase. They make tiny holes at the recipient site with needle and implant one graft into each hole. The process is very delicate and time-consuming, of course. The number of grafts depends mainly on the size of the recipient area. An average transplant needs approximately 1000 to 3000 individual follicular grafts. The ideal transplant containing 4000 grafts is more likely to get a full head of hair. Depending on the size of the recipient area, the process of grafting usually takes 5-10 hours. That’s really a tough job.

Post transplant care and recovery time

Most patients report mild pain and soreness after surgery. You may need to take pain killers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and antibiotics for several days. The potential hair growth side effects usually include scarring and uneven hair growth. It is the surgeon who decides whether to perform a follow-up surgery or not. The recovery time varies from case to case. Within 2 to 3 weeks after surgery, the transplanted hair fall out, but new hair also grow out within 5 to 9 months.

The hair transplant surgery is absolutely a permanent solution, as the hair follicles are taken from the “safe zones” like back and/or sides of the scalp. The hair growing on these sides generally do not fall out.

Non Prescription Contact Lenses Are the Best Way to Alter Your Look Without Altering Your Sight

Today’s world has a staggering 75 million contact lens wearers, with 31 million living within the United States. Though it might seem as though this is an awfully large number of people who opt not to wear glasses, there are actually quite a few people who are wearing non prescription contact lenses to alter their look, but not their vision. Non prescription contact lenses are a unique way to change your appearance by way of your eye color, whether making a dramatic change, or a slight enhancement.

As long as you first visit an optometrist, you’ll know the correct size so that you can find the contact lens that it best suited to your eye. After a brief period of initial adjustment, most people discover that they can’t even feel their non prescription contact lenses anymore.

There are a number of different kinds of non-prescription colored contacts out there. Opaque coloured lenses are able to transform even the darkest natural eye color into a brighter or lighter shade. These lenses are clear in the center so that the wearer can see through the pupil, but the colorless part is surrounded by a wall of color. This allows for the most dramatic change even on the darkest background.

For those who have lighter eyes, enhancement lenses are usually the more natural option. These are still available as non prescription coloured contacts, but instead of being completely opaque, they augment the wearer’s natural eye tint with more subtle and flattering hues.

For people who have a wilder streak about them, then there’s a broad range of non-prescription novelty contact lenses that are currently all the rage. You can now look like an alien, as though you have cat’s eyes, flaming eyes, or any other possible appearance that you could ever want. Essentially, if you want it, they have it.

Surprisingly enough, changing the look of your eye isn’t the only reason that non prescription contact lenses exist. Many hospitals and clinics will utilize a special type of clear lens as a sort of bandage for the cornea, especially after the patient has undergone surgery for a cateract. Also, sports players and fanatic spectators will choose to use contact lenses that include filters for certain lights and colors so that they can better see the ball or whatever other target they may need to see.

No matter the reason that you choose to buy non prescription contact lenses, they’re certain to be comfortable and satisfying for you. Take advantage of a free offer from your favorite brand, and give them a “test drive”, so that you know that you can use them comfortably and without irritation.

Carpal Tunnel

Everyone has ‘Carpal Tunnel’. In fact, everyone has two Carpal Tunnels. However, not everyone has Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. We all have a fascia band around our wrists which holds in place the medial nerve, ligaments and bones. Most of our muscles begin and end with tendons which attach to bony landmarks on our skeletal system. When our flexor muscles of our forearm are overworked with repetitive motions then the muscle becomes agitated which inflames the tendons of our wrist. This swelling and inflammation squeezes the medial nerve against the ligament.

Common repetitive motions include typing, knitting, using a jack hammer, hammering nails such as in building a house and rowing a boat for long distances. A fracture in the wrist creates inflammation and can trigger Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Car accidents, sporting accidents, catching ourselves from a fall can also contribute to inflammation of the Carpal Tunnel. Pregnancy can also lead to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome as the body is altered from its non-pregnancy state. Arthritis, diabetes and hypothyroidism can create inflammation and swelling in the Carpal Tunnel.

Most Carpal Tunnel Syndrome cases are a direct result of lack of rest in between repetitive motions which tends to overwork these muscles leading to inflammation. Eventually the pressure placed on the median nerve causes nerve pain which can travel up the arm and into the shoulder. Symptoms may include pain, numbness and tingling in the wrist, hand and especially the thumb, index and middle finger. Other signs of a swollen flexor tendon include visible swelling in the wrist, heat, pain when moving the wrist flexing and extending the wrist or when moving the wrist from side to side. As pain radiates up the arm one may lose the full use and range of motion they once enjoyed.

Trigger Points, knots, may also form along this path leading to increased pain in all the muscles up the arm and into the shoulder. Chronic pain becomes so debilitating that quality of life is affected. Some opt for surgery to clip the Carpal Tunnel. I have heard from several people that surgery left their hand weak and they still had some pain. Others had very good success with surgery only to have the Carpal Tunnel regrow and become a problem again due to the repetitive motions of their job.

There are several options besides surgery to reduce inflammation in the wrist and reduce inflammation and ultimately pain.

First of all it is important to get creative in finding other ways to accomplish the same task without the perpetual repetitive motion. Sometimes this is not an option especially for writers and computer office staff. For those with these jobs it is just as important to set aside time to take regular rest breaks throughout each given task. Self-massage will do wonders to alleviate this problem.

Michael Stone is a massage therapist who teaches a technique that is easy for self-therapy. Simply relax your arm in front of you with your elbow bent and the palm of your hand facing your body. Place your opposing hand over the back of your wrist. Keep the hand you are working on upright and level with your arm. Place a medium amount of pressure with your fingers on the back side of your hand and while you stroke down from the back of your hand over your wrist you simply flex your wrist towards your body in unison. The next stroke begins in the original position and you flex your wrist as you stroke down from the back of your hand over your wrist. Repeat this massage for at least five minutes. You can do this several times per day on both hands.

Massage sedates the nerve endings and eases pain and inflammation. Easy Living Guide – Take Care of Your Feet

Did you know that there are 52 bones in your feet? That represents one quarter of all the bones in your body! With all these bones come 66 joints and more than 200 tendons, muscles and ligaments. These elaborate and at the same time delicate parts of our body are usually expected to serve us tirelessly as long as we need them to – without being pampered properly – in most cases…

With some small changes and paying some attention to your feet, you can greatly improve the way you feel and the way your feet feel.

Comfortable shoes are the first step to happy feet. Shoes too tight can actually degenerate our feet. Whatever the shape, height of the heels, color, material or preferred style of the shoes are, your feet should feel natural when you put them on. As soon as you change the summer shoes for enclosed (fall and winter) kinds, make sure you also wear breathable socks.

Besides that, while using soap in the shower; give your feet a cleansing/refreshing massage. Pay attention to the sensation of the tiredness washing away. Try not to neglect the area in between the toes. Your feet will be grateful.

Before bedtime it helps to apply some lotion or cream to your feet. If you take a minute or two to massage allover, that will relax you and also take lots of pain away. The whole body will be more energized and feeling better.

Described above is the minimum anyone can do without much effort or spending a lot of time. To move up to the next level, involve the foot exercise.

Exercising feet is just as beneficial as exercising any other part of the body. Walk barefoot sometimes, try to pick up a pencil with your toes, walk on your toes, then on your heals; on outsides of your feet and finally on insides of your feet. That way we can keep every part of the foot flexible instead of stiff or even frozen up.

Taking care of feet should become a daily routine (especially after they become painful on a daily basis). Exercising and applying lotion every night pays-off. If nothing else, your heels won’t be all that dry anymore and falling asleep will be so much easier.

Find the Best Massage Technique Dependent on the Patient’s Condition

A great massage facility will listen to complaints and formulate a plan for massage therapy. They will use one or all of the following based on how the client is feeling, and their particular aches and pains. They will leave feeling refreshed and free from all or most of their pain.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is unique in that it focuses on just the muscles used for sports performance. The possibility of injury is lessened, as well as the recovery time should an injury happen. Endurance is heightened and pain and stiffness is relieved, which is why it’s a great massage to enjoy after performance. It easily restores the muscles to their prior condition.

Sports massage services include a variety of massage types including Swedish, hydrotherapy and trigger point among others. Each masseuse will have their own technique, but will also stick to the basics taught to them wherever they received training. When used along with stretching exercises, sports massage will strengthen and prepare muscles by loosening and warming them.

Deep Tissue Massage

There are many benefits to deep tissue massage services. Basically, this type of massage mimics Swedish techniques but with added pressure; it focuses on the deepest layers of the tissue. For anyone that suffers chronic muscle tension, deep tissue will make them feel renewed and refreshed like never before.

Deep tissue massage services have been proven to reduce stress and lower blood pressure quite significantly after just a 60-minute session. Both oxytocin and serotonin are released during deep tissue massage, so it is certainly beneficial.

Trigger Point Massage

Trigger point massage services or therapy continues to be a popular method for healing. The method focuses on the tightest point within a muscle that’s causing pain in an individual. It works in cycles of isolate pressure on trigger points, followed by release. They rely on the fact that one point often affects another. For example, a pain in the neck could be a result of a pain in the back, which can in turn cause headaches. In other words, it’s all connected.

The person receiving the massage engages in deep breathing, and points out the places on their body where they feel aches and tension. The masseuse then follows their lead. Many report feeling exponentially better after just one treatment, which is why trigger point massage services are among the most popular.

The feet, calves and upper legs are the treated portions of the body during reflexology. The masseuse uses Swedish techniques as well as sports massage to alleviate pain due to a variety of ailments including but not limited to plantar fasciitis. There are even more benefits to reflexology when the patient arranges regular sessions.

It’s proven that the alleviation of pain is not just in the feet after enjoying reflexology, but it tends to radiate throughout the entire body providing benefits that the client or patient didn’t even know were possible.

Massage is a great way to naturally manage chronic pain. One can only get so many shots and surgeries before they realize that something is not right within their system. Massage services are a wonderful treatment that will leave the client feeling hundreds of times better.

A great masseuse will know just what type or combination to use to relieve pain. One should never discount the benefits of great massage services.

The Many Health Benefits of Massage

Massage has been used for centuries for relaxation and stress relief. Today massage has been shown to have many health benefits beyond relaxation and stress relief. As part of a complete health care plan massage can increase well-being, reduce pain, and help cancer patients fight depression, pain, and muscle pain. There are many type of massage and each one offers health benefits.

Treatment for Pain

Massage is an excellent treatment for pain. In 2003 a study showed massage worked better than acupuncture for relief of moderate chronic lower back pain. Patients saw a reduced need for pain relievers by 36 percent with massage. Another study showed people that suffer from migraines experienced fewer headaches and they had better quality of sleep when massage was used as a treatment. Patients with osteoarthritis knee pain saw an improvement in stiffness, knee function, and pain from Swedish massage once or twice a week.

Treatment for Anxiety and Depression

According to the Mayo Clinic, 12 studies were reviewed and these studies found that massage helped to reduce anxiety and depression. It was found massage lowers the hormone cortisol which can trigger depression and anxiety, while it increased the levels of neurotransmitters which help to reduce depression.

May Have Benefits for Other Conditions

Massage can also help cancer patients when partnered with traditional Western medicine. Massage is thought to help reduce swelling, fatigue, pain, nausea, and depression. It may also help to boost the immune system. Some of the other conditions which massage may help include the following:

  • Digestive disorders
  • Insomnia related to stress
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sports injuries
  • Temporomandibular joint pain
  • Soft tissue strains or injuries

It is important for you to partner with your health care provider when considering massage. While it is usually safe for most people, certain people may be at risk for further injury if the proper form of massage is not administered. For example if you are on blood thinners, have a bleeding disorder, open cuts or wounds, fracture, deep vein thrombosis, or sever osteoarthritis you may not be a good candidate for massage therapy.

Speak to your health care provider about the benefits of massage and see if they think it would be a good addition to your treatment. When partnered with traditional medicine and chiropractic treatments massage can have a positive impact on your health. Reduction of pain, depression, anxiety, and a sense of wellbeing are all some of the many benefits of massage.

Cortisol Blockers- After the Hype and Controversy, are there any Quality Products Still Standing?

Over the last 2 years, the link between weight gain and the stress hormone Cortisol has taken center stage. The concept was introduced, capitalized upon, and basically challenged in the legal system all within the last 2 years. The FTC filed a lawsuit against a maker of a Cortisol product claiming false advertising and unsubstantiated claims, yet you still see and hear of products claiming to control Cortisol. The public still seems to hold onto hope regarding the possibility of the science and potential effectiveness of these products.

Two years later, is there a product, or products, that have actually helped people reach their weight goals? It seems to be a subjective question. Some products work for certain people and others don’t. There is one thing that will remain true through all of this controversy regarding Cortisol, if you don’t include proper diet and exercise, the majority of supplements will fail you. The makers of CortiSlim(TM) were very effective at bringing the topic of Cortisol to the people.

How effective their product is remains debatable. CortiSlim(TM) may have helped many people, but when weighed with the outrageous claims they made, it is clear to see that there has been significant public backlash. If you take the time to review the ingredients in comparable products, you will see that the formula may seem outdated. Relacore(TM) has been around even longer than CortiSlim(TM) and now can be seen on TV making the same claims about “belly fat” and the connection with Cortisol. CortiDrene(TM) is another product offering a Stress-related weight-control formula. Unlike the previous 2 products, CortiDrene(TM) has not done any national advertising and has seemed to ride the wave of publicity and focused solely on actual experiences from consumers. CortiDrene(TM) has changed their formula in an effort to provide more quality ingredients and fight the effects of stress from several angles.

As the author of this opinionated editorial, I can speak to you from my experience fighting the battle of the bulge and honestly tell you over the last 2 years, I have tried all 3 products. I can also offer this; I believe that you have to commit to a lifestyle change in order for any supplement to provide quality support. For my money and expectations, I was left expecting more from Cortislim(TM) and Relacore(TM). I enjoyed the feeling I had with CortiDrene(TM) and actually felt more comfortable while using it. I agree with CortiSlim(TM) when they say it is a “Lifestyle”. I just wished they had said that in the first place.
